Who is eligible to receive a Travel Grant?

To be eligible for a travel grant to attend GCP21-II, you must be working on cassava primarily. Priority will go to young scientists, students and scientists from developing countries. If you or your group already receive substantial support by grants from donor agencies, we request that you use your own funds to attend this meeting.



What conditions must be met to obtain a Travel Grant?

• 1. Go to the Registration page (Page 1) and select Travel Grant as Registration Type.
• 2. Complete the basic registration information requested on Page 1, including creating a password so that you may return later to the Post-Registration page to load your abstract on the GCP21-II site. When you have filled out all of the registration information requested, click "next" at the bottom of the page to go to Page 2.
• 3. On Page 2, you will be prompted to indicate why you want a Travel Grant to attend this meeting, and what your topic will be. You may apply for a full grant or partial grant. Candidates will be selected for oral and poster presentations on a first come, first served basis. Once you have completed filling out Page 2, you will receive a confirmation e-mail.

  4. Submit your abstract by using your password to enter the Post-Registration section
  Abstract Guidelines:
  Total of 1700 characters, with spaces, for title, authors, address and text. Font: Arial 11. Underline the name of the author who will present the poster or make the presentation.

What will the Travel Grant cover?

Both full and partial Travel Grants will be awarded to cover airfare, accommodations and registration fees. Expenses for visa and local transportation where your trip originates and ends will NOT be covered. 



How are the candidates selected?

All candidates will be reviewed by a small committee and ranked according to their merit. Those selected for partial or full grants will be notified at least one month prior to the meeting. Partial funding could be awarded in the form of a lump sum or accommodation and/or registration fees waived. If you receive full support, your ticket will be purchased for you by the organizing committee, your hotel room will be booked and the registration fees waived. After the meeting, grant recipients of both full and partial support must submit on the website a very short (half page) report that will be given to the respective donors.
