The Danforth Center

The Danforth Center is the largest non-profit plant science research institution in the world. Our support comes from scientific grants (which directly support the research) and gifts from corporations, foundations and individuals for the day-to-day operations of the Center. Scientists – from 22 nations – are working to discover solutions to address malnutrition and the degradation of our planet:

  • More than 1 billion people are already undernourished worldwide
  • Our planet is fragile; among other things, science must help to improve agriculture so as to preserve our planet for future generations
  • Our contributions to St. Louis’ role as the world center for plant science will be a boon to the regional economy

The Danforth Center is a gift to the region – and our region’s gift to the world!
